Vanderburgh Custody Contacts

For current jail custody, start with the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office inmate lookup or recent bookings. If the online roster is delayed, incomplete, or affected by a system change, contact the jail information line. Public-record requests go through the sheriff's public records page, which cites Indiana APRA, IC 5-14-3. The sheriff page states that an in-person request receives a response within 24 hours, while mailed or faxed requests receive a response within seven calendar days.

An incarceration-record request normally has no charge and only shows the dates a person was lodged in the Vanderburgh County Detention Center. It does not show criminal charges or dispositions. Limited criminal history requests have separate limits under IC 10-13-3-27 and IC 10-13-3-29, and they are not the same as a jail roster search.

Vanderburgh Prosecutor Contact

Questions about formal criminal charges, prosecution status, or the office handling a Vanderburgh County case may need the prosecutor rather than the jail. The jail can report custody and booking details, but filed charges and case activity belong to the court and prosecution process.
